About Me

Hello!  My name is Jennifer Kirby and I am an interventionist at East Side Elementary School.  This is my 14th year at East Side and my 22nd year teaching.  I have taught in 3 states, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Austin Peay State University in 2000.  I then earned a Masters Degree in Reading from Walden University in 2003.  In addition to being an interventionist, I have taught both first and third grades throughout my career.  I live in Normandy, Tennessee with my family.  I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Zach, for over 20 years.  We have two amazingly smart and precious children (I'm not biased at all).  Elijah graduated from SCHS in 2021 and attends the University of Alabama in Huntsville where He is studying to be a meteorologist.  Our daughter, Alexandria, is 5 years old.  She loves to play pretend, dance, and do gymnastics.  Our family attends First Baptist Church in Shelbyville where my husband is the worship pastor.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family/friends, watching TV, and sitting on my back porch swing.  I also am also an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan (Go Big Blue)!  I love East Side and our students!
