5th grade Information
About the Teacher:
Hi! I’m Julie Hill, and this is my seventh teaching 5th grade at East Side Elementary. I was born and raised in Bedford County. I attended Motlow State Community College, Tennessee Technological University, and Middle Tennessee State University. I have a master's degree in education. My husband, Drew, and I bought land near where I grew up in Wheel and built a home this past school year. We welcomed a sweet baby girl in June, Adalynn Kate. I will be on maternity leave for the first part of the school year, but I will return after Christmas break on January 5th. We have a Maltipoo named Gus that was our first baby, and a cat we rescued named Cindy. In my years at East Side, I taught two years of English Language Arts to multiple classes, four years of teaching all subject areas, and this year will be the first year of teaching Science and Social Studies to all 5th grade classes.
What your child is learning this year:
I will be teaching your child's Science and Social Studies classes. We will be using Studies Weekly newspapers to study the history of Tennessee, and we will be using Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Tennessee Science curriculum. In addition, we will do hands-on Science experiments and activities.
