Recently, Bedford County Schools school counselors, Community in Schools partners, administrators, and our SEL & Mental Health Supervisor came together at the School Counselor and Administrators Leadership Institute (SCALI) to learn, grow and connect. 💼✨🤝
This year’s theme, Passion, Purpose, Position!, encouraged participants to reflect on the important role they play in supporting #students and strengthening school communities.
Throughout SCALI, participants explored critical topics including trauma, mental health support, behavior intervention strategies, collaboration and more. These professional learning opportunities provide valuable tools and insights to help our team respond to #student needs and create supportive learning environments. 🧠🌱🏫

Our first graders had a fun, hands-on science experiment exploring how water moves throughout a plant! 🌿
Students placed celery stalks in water mixed with food coloring and watched closely as the colored water traveled through the celery. This simple experiment gave our young scientists a visual way to see how plants transport water through their stems. 🌈🌱

Students experienced history up close as they learned about blacksmithing 🔨, mule and donkey care 🫏, traditional homesteading skills 🌾, honeybees 🐝 and music 🎶. They even enjoyed ice cream churned by a mule! 🍦
This hands on experience gave students a unique opportunity to learn beyond the classroom while gaining a deeper appreciation for the traditions and history that helped shape our community. 💛
