All About Me

My name is Layne Draper-Talbott and I am an East Side Explorer!  This is my 5th year as the principal and I am so blessed to have the opportunity to serve the faculty, staff, students and parents every day.  Prior to coming to East Side, I worked at Southside Elementary for 13 years, serving as a Kindergarten teacher, 1st grade teacher, 3rd grade teacher and assistant principal.  I am a product of Bedford County Schools as I attended East Side Elementary, Harris Middle and Shelbyville Central High.  I come from a family of educators and both my grandmother and mother taught at Shelbyville Central High.  

 

My goal when I come to school every day is to make East Side a happy place for students, teachers and staff.  At East Side, we work hard and we play hard.  The faculty and staff are so dedicated and want to be here every single day.  It is not just a job for us, it is a true calling.  The students at East Side are wonderful!  We receive compliments for good behavior and good manners on every field trip we take, every time we have a visitor to the building, and from the community.  I take pride in my school as we teach our students to be kind, well-rounded citizens.  We are East Side Explorers!
